WIRED FOR SUCCESS- PROGRAMMED FOR FAILURE- FINISH STRONG

SCRIPTURE: Galatians 6: 7-10

TEXT: Psalms 37:3

OPENING: Am I trying to do good or make myself look good? One is self-centered and the other is about being GOD CENTERED!

In our Text David said, “TRUST IN THE LORD AND DO GOOD”.

The proof of our TRUST is DOING GOOD. David knew what it meant TO DO GOOD! He had plenty of opportunities to do bad and one of those times is recorded in scripture, namely, his experience with Bathsheba! ADULTERY, MURDER, DEATH! But he didn’t stay there. He repented and finished strong!!! Where is your mindset today? Wallowing in the mistakes of the past? Bitter over what someone did to you? Given up on yourself?

I want to encourage you today to “FINISH STRONG”. Grow not weary in well doing for in due season you will reap if you faint not!!!! CHOICE! CHOICE! CHOICE!

3 thoughts to ponder about “FINISHING STRONG”:

1) BE NOT DECEIVED (“God set seed time and harvest into the creation”. Genesis 1:12):

Genesis 8:22 says that the principle of sowing and reaping assures us that we can finish strong.

If you sow (plant) for the FLESH, it will perish. If you sow to THE SPIRIT (in love) you reap a REWARD (1 Corinthians 3:9- 15).

2) DON’T GROW WEARY DOING GOOD:

If anyone could have grown weary of doing good it was David. Throughout His life he was about “doing good”. He was a shepherd boy who took food to his brothers who made fun of him. Then he KILLED GOLIATH!

While he was out taking care of the sheep, Samuel came to his father, Jesse, to anoint the next king (1 Samuel 16). David was out doing what he was called to do but he was not forgotten by God (1 Samuel 16:13). He was anointed but it was not yet his season. So, KEEP DOING GOOD! (1 Samuel 16:19)

For the next 8 years, David was on the run for his life. (1 Samuel 21-31). He spent 4 years running from Saul and 4 years hiding in Ziglag from Saul.

I can hear David saying “THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD, SURELY GOODNESS AND MERCY SHALL FOLLOW ME ALL THE DAYS OF MY LIFE”.

3) KNOW THE SEASON YOUR ARE IN (“To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under the heaven”):

Ecclesiastes 3:12 says “I know that nothing is better for them than to rejoice and do good in their lives!

David said “TRUST IN THE LORD (evidenced by our praise) AND DO GOOD”.

KNOW YOU SEASON. They are not microwave season. FINISH STRONG!

CLOSING: In Psalms 126 David gives a psalm of ascent to God saying “HE WHO CONTINUALLY GOES FORTH WEEPING BEARING SEED FOR SOWING, SHALL DOUBTLESS COME AGAIN WITH REJOICING BRINGING HIS SHEAVES WITH HIM”.

DAVID UNDERSTOOD. DON’T QUIT FOR YOUR SEASON OF HARVEST IS COMING!
